If you are renovating your century home kitchen, or looking at new appliances, here are some of my favorites that work well in older homes (or newer homes).
My absolute favorite line of appliances is the Antique line, available from Elmira Stove Works, definitely on my “wish list”! They carry a gorgeous line of antique style appliances. In addition to ranges (which are available in gas, electric or wood burning),….coordinating fridges, microwaves, wall ovens and dishwasher panels are available.
Another fantastic line available from Elmira Stove Works is Northstar, a very retro-style complete line of appliances in funky colours such as: Robin’s Egg Blue, Flamingo Pink, Buttercup Yellow, Mint Green and Candy Red.
Great to have such a great source for retro-vintage appliances in our backyard; located in Elmira, Ontario.
Other lines such as Smeg and Aga carry “cookers”, which also work perfectly in a century home. Big Chill is another brand of retro appliances, available from the U.S.
If you have inherited or found an actual vintage stove (the bottom two photos are original vintage), many sources for parts are readily available on the internet. Owners are using older brands such as Wedgewood, O’Keefe & Merrit and Tappan. Thinking of painting your old appliance? Check with body shops and professional paint shops offering heat-resistant coatings.
